Compassion costs. It is easy enough to argue, criticize and condemn, but redemption is costly, and comfort draws from the deep. Brains can argue, but It takes heart to comfort.

There are a whole lot of religious people in America, including the majority of Democrats. When we abandon the field of religious discourse—when we ignore the debate about what it means to be a good Christian or Muslim or Jew; when we discuss religion only in the negative sense of where or how it should not be practiced, rather than in the positive sense of what it tells us about our obligations toward one another; when we shy away from religious venues and religious broadcasts because we assume that we will be unwelcome—others will fill the vacuum. And those who do are likely to be those with the most insular views of faith, or who cynically use religion to justify partisan ends.

God Of This City

Thing’s have been going pretty swell. Finished the second to last semester of high school. 3 A’s, 2 B’s. HELLA happy. Now, I can go get the phone I want. I should be getting it sometime this week. Church has been going pretty well. Everything in my life is going pretty well right now.

So I read into Project 365 and I thought it was really cool. So I’m gonna try to do it. So I’m gonna post the picture from yesterday and today up.

History has been made. Mark it on the calender in your brain. January 20th, 2009. The FIRST black president of the United States of America. WORD!

Life’s been pretty good.  The days after Christmas, I spent most of the time doing homework.  New Years was pretty good.  D has to go get a haircut, so I had to wait for her to finish before Pauly could pick me up.  The three of us went to go pick up An and her sister and then hit up Target.  I bought a Nerf Recon gun and a shotgun.  HELLA deep.  The 5 of us then hit up Gina’s house.  Me, Pauly, An, D, Danny, Gina, Eric, Terra, Chi Ki, her boyfriend, Emily, and Josh went ou tto MHS to have a Nerf War.  HELLA fun.  Went back to Gina’s place.  Played some Trivial Pursuit (HELLA HARD!!!) and Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader.  The adults started to play poker.  They’re HELLA pro.  Chilled for the rest of the night.  We did the countdown.  It was pretty cool.  Amy’s family took me home since they live right next to me.  Chilled for the rest of the night and went to sleep. Had New Year’s dinner with my grandparents on the 1st.

January 2nd - DRIVING TEST!!!! OMGZ!!!!!! long story short, I failed the test because I was going TOO slow and I didn’t do traffic checks.  I was PISSED for the rest of the day.  Went to Costco with the whole family.  Bought food, TV stand, and my brother got a game.  I looked that the phones they had there, and they had the Eternity.  So I’m planning to come back sometime this week to get it.  Came home, chilled, watched Utah vs. Alabama.  Had dinner with my cousin’s family and parents.  Pauly picked me up for YG.  Had “elections” that night.  I got chosen to be in the ministry team.  went home, chilled, and sleep.

January 3rd/4th -  Saturday was a free day basically.  Watched Milk for AP Gov extra credit.  HELLA WEIRD!!!! When my dad came home, we watched the playoffs built the TV stand.  Took half the day to build, but it was well worth it.  Set back up all of the electronic equipment.  Finished watching the SD/Indy game.  So DISAPPOINTED in Indy. Chilled for the rest of the night and sleep.  Sunday was a regular sunday.  Morning was basically chill, playoffs, church prep, get ready.  Pauly taught our class, which was weird, considering he’s not that much older than us. Played some ball after, then played “handball” which was pretty fun.  chilled for the rest of the night and then went to sleep.

First day back at school was alright.  The day went by hella quick, which was a plus.  No homework, which was great.  Chilled for the whole afternoon and watched the OSU/Texas game.  So disappointed in OSU.  Freakin 3 years in a row, they can’t win the big one.  And now, I’m here.

Hopefully, 2009 will bring more joy than pain to not only me, but the world.
